Louis U. Gasparini has been a partner at SG since 2008, and is the Managing Partner for the Firm’s four offices including the attorney and non-attorney staff. Before joining SG, Lou practiced law at a well-known 100+ year prestigious Albany, NY based civil litigation firm. 

Lou practices in the areas of municipal liability, general civil litigation, wrongful death matters, premises liability, governmental and constitutional claims, commercial litigation and all aspects of employment law. He focuses a large part of his practice on the defense of municipalities and schools (public and private), clubs and other businesses in sports related injury litigation. These institutions have ranged from colleges, private religious schools, after school programs, local, regional and nationally recognized sports clubs and community groups and organizations. Since joining the Firm, Lou has tried both personal injury claims and commercial litigation matters to verdict. He has gained a reputation as being a well-prepared advocate at trial and beforehand.

Lou actively handles various types of employment matters for clients, defending against claims of tortuous interference, contracts, discrimination and unfair competition. He handles actions to enforce and defend against claims relating to non-competition and solicitation agreements, and counsels clients on employment issues dealing with contracts, discipline, promotions, terminations and workplace law issues, and has defended against employment discrimination suits before the New York State Division of Human Rights (DHR) and the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). Lou advises employers on the drafting and negotiating of non-compete agreements, and on the preparation of specific employment policies, severance agreements, handbooks and manuals. He likewise works on matters involving commercial litigation, such as partnership breakups, and related litigation.

Lou is admitted to practice in New York and Connecticut State Courts, and the United States District Courts of the Southern District of New York, Eastern District of New York and Northern District of New York, and the District of Connecticut. He is also admitted to the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. He graduated with honors from the Albany Law School in 2002, where he served on the managing board for a law journal, and the State University of New York, College at Oswego in 1999 where he graduated magna cum laude. He is likewise active in his community, coaches Division 1 Youth Soccer, previously served as a Committee Member for the Southeast Republican Committee, and will serve as a Town Justice for the Town of Southeast. 

Lou has received the highest peer review rating of AV from his peers based upon a report from Martindale-Hubbell. He has likewise been named to Super Lawyers, another nationally recognized lawyer rating service, that hands down awards to only 1% of attorneys, and has been recognized by similiar organizations for his legal abilities, such as ALM, Westchester Magazine and others.
